[It's been quiet for a little bit, and that always makes Ellie suspicious. Even without the interference of their captors, it seems like people are still having trouble with this or that. Whether it's the departure of friends, or a misunderstanding, or just... day to day living being kind of rough on someone? She's been seeing it all over the place. She's not used to caring, but with everyone so open in Luceti, it's hard not to.

So, upon discovering what she's been searching for the last several months finally, finally in the library, she makes a decision. If it's peace that they're getting, she's going to enjoy it as much as possible.]

Okay, Luceti...ans, whatever. Time to lighten the mood.

[There's a sound of a page turning, and she clears her throat.]

"Newsflash: Police were called to a daycare... where a three-year-old was resisting a rest." ...eh.

"I did a theatrical performance about puns. Really... it was just a play on words." Psssh. Cute.

"He drove his expensive car into a tree and found out how the Mercedes bends." ...I don't get that one, actually.

"The man who survived mustard gas and pepper spray... is now a seasoned veteran." [Snigger.]

"Did you hear about the guy whose whole left side was cut off? ...He's all right now." Ohhh, ha ha, that one's mean.

[The page turns again.]

[There's a long pause on Erica's end as she thinks about this... And then the penny drops. Erica's mood quickly does a 180, with her now sounding a great deal happier than she did before.]

Ah, that's right, there are no policemen here at all! Even if the police were called to a daycare here no one would show up, thank goodness. The children can rest whenever they feel like without having to worry!

[Well. This one's... different. This is the sort of surreal innocence that Ellie's never seen before, especially in someone who looks older than her.]

You know, this place doesn't have that many kids, either.

Right again, you really do know a lot about this place. It's a good thing that there aren't many children here... But it's also a shame, isn't it?

[She's used to seeing children playing games in the parks and generally having fun around Paris. While she knows it's better that there aren't many children around to suffer through experiments, she really does miss joining in with their games and reading to them when she could.]

I dunno. I'd feel bad if there were a bunch of kids getting experimented on, even if most of the ones I've seen are pretty harmless.

Oh, and I would as well! I would gladly give myself up if it meant no child would be experimented on. It just isn't fair.

[And while she loves kids and would go on, that isn't exactly the most light hearted of topics. And here this girl was trying to lighten the mood! Ahem.]

I'm sorry, thank you for serving me and for all of your hard work brightening the mood today! While I didn't understand all of your stories the ones I did brought a smile to my face.

No, no I didn't hear about the farmer.

[She had no idea that cows could be so violent. But even so, despite being attacked the farmer managed to do his job. What a dedicated person.]

I'm pleased to hear he managed to milk the cow, but was he okay after the attack?
